The accompanying application, !Callchnge, animates a band of from 5 to 16
bellringers and allows you to change their order of ringing in the standard
way. A selection of named changes are described in 'Docs.TryThese' to help
you with some ideas. If you do not ring church bells yourself, you should
read the file 'Docs.Intro' and look at the Draw file 'Docs.Strokes' in the
application. Operating instructions are in the !Help in the application. The
images may be very distorted if you do not use a high resolution screen
mode.
The software is free but remains our copyright:
* you must not alter the code in any way without our consent but may *
* distribute it to others in its entirety for non-commercial use. *
* You must include this file with the copies. *
If you find it useful or just fun we should appreciate your registering your
interest by sending us your name and address, preferably by email, and a
donation (minimum £5, cheque payable to K.M.Crennell at the above address)
which we will pass on to a local tower for bell restoration.
We appreciate suggestions for improvements from registered users. If there
is sufficient demand, we can change the algorithm to allow 3 or 4 bells,
let than one change to be stored at a time, or support interactive help.
We have a web page for RISC-OS ringing applications:
http://www.argonet.co.uk/users/fortran/Hobbies/Bells/
If you know of any other ringing applications for RISCOS, please let us know
so that we can add them to these web pages. There are also some useful links
to a glossary and some 'Learn to ring' pages.
We should like to thank John Norris and Alan Griffin for their help in
correcting the ringing style in the sprite animations.
